Ummm...... why would a user feel the need to 'thumbs up' an email from a friend? Or a bill from their power company? A post to a discussion list? hmmm... that one might actually have some purpose to it.

Anyway, my point is that, as usual, anyone seriously asking these questions has forgotten why users actually use email, and that it has nothing to do with marketing. And anyone operating a mail system wants feedback from their users so they can fight real abuse and improve filtering accuracy, not so they can help marketers improve their bottom line. If you want data about how effective your advertising is, maybe you should try actually paying for advertising instead of expecting changes a free communications medium that only helps a minority.

I think of defibrillators when I see "deliverabilitators." ZAP. That's what we do. ZAP your deliverability back into place and tell you to stop eating junk food.

That's exactly my point, Jeff. Don't wait for someone else to notice the lack and develop it. Go ahead and develop it and if it's something users actually decide they like, want and need then it will percolate through those mail clients that are proprietary.

Perhaps users aren't asking for an unsubscribe button or thumbs up/thumbs down because they're not aware of them. Could be a chicken and egg problem.
