The problem with buying lists is that you never know which consumers are already on your list and you risk spamming current subscribers.

That’s not the only problem with buying lists.
Lists are inherently stolen data.
No one opts in to emails (or postal mail, for that matter) from just anyone who has enough money to buy a list.
